Wickham Church of England Primary School was founded by St Nicholas Church and was initially situated next to the Church site. The School moved to its current position in 1969 and caters for children from 4 to 11 years, drawn from the village and surrounding community. Our school has a warm, family atmosphere where parents, the Church and village community are encouraged to become involved fully in all events and activities. As a •The single storey building has a large hall and seven classrooms each with its own practical area and access to outside facilities. We also have a fully equipped ICT Suite, Music and Drama Room, •Our school library and reading areas are focal points in the school, providing resources that enhance the quality of teaching and learning for all children. •A well equipped Early Years classroom and play area ensure that our youngest children enjoy a bright stimulating, secure, learning environment in which to begin their school life. •We are very fortunate to have two large playing fields, two playgrounds which surround the school and exciting Adventure Play Areas for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 children. •A mature 2.5 acre Conservation Area, with established hedgerows, young and mature trees and a large pond, provides wonderful opportunities for children to experience practical environmental work. •We have an excellent learner swimming pool, with toilet facilities and changing rooms. This was provided by our Parent Teacher Association, and is used by all the children. Swimming is timetabled throughout the summer term. Due to the costs involved parents are asked to make an annual contribution towards the heating of the pool. •The school also provides a Social Services registered Pre/After School Care Club 'The Time Out Club' for parents wishing to use this facility. •We are fortunate to have a very supportive Parent Teacher Association 'The Friends of Wickham Primary School' that raises funds to support school projects. Parents are encouraged to help in school and our Governors are involved fully in all events and activities. •We also have a Sure Start Children’s Centre on site and enjoy good links with young families in the community. |
